As an Associational Leader, you serve on the front lines of ministry encouragement, connection, and support. You often know when a church is thriving, when a pastor is transitioning, or when a search team could benefit from outside guidance. In those moments, a trusted recommendation matters.

Since last year’s SBCAL gathering, Shepherd Staff has expanded the ways we support churches through key leadership transitions, retained searches, and ministry staffing challenges.

When a church in your association needs help hiring well, we would be honored to come alongside them.

A Special Offer for SBCAL Associational Leaders

As an associational leader, you are in a unique position to help churches take wise next steps when a pastoral staffing need arises. If you connect Shepherd Staff to a church in your association and that church enters into a retained search partnership with our firm, we want to extend a meaningful benefit to everyone involved.

With each qualifying retained search partnership:

  • The referred church receives 10% off the total retained search fee
  • You receive a $400 finder’s fee – or you may direct that amount to a charity of your choice
  • Shepherd Staff donates $200 to SBCAL in honor of the partnership

This offer applies to new retained search engagements that result from an SBCAL Associational Leader referral and starts before December 31, 2026.

How It Works:

Referring a church is simple.

1. Tell us about the church and position.

Use the button below to share basic information about the church, the opening, and any relevant context.

2. Our team reviews the opportunity.

We will evaluate the referral and determine the best next step for outreach.

3. We follow up thoughtfully.

If the opportunity is a potential fit for Shepherd Staff’s retained search services, our team will contact the church in a ministry-minded and professional way.

4. The referral benefits apply if a retained search partnership begins before Dec. 31, 2026.

If the church begins a qualifying retained search partnership, the church receives the discount, you receive the finder’s fee or charitable option, and Shepherd Staff donates to SBCAL.

Why Churches Trust Shepherd Staff

Church leadership team discussing candidate evaluation during a pastoral search process

Churches need more than candidate names. They need a partner who understands ministry context, leadership dynamics, theological alignment, search-team process, and the spiritual weight of hiring decisions.

Shepherd Staff serves churches and faith-based organizations with an approach that is both highly relational and highly intentional. We are not simply trying to fill openings. We are helping churches discern the right leader for the next season of ministry.

When you refer a church to Shepherd Staff, you can do so with confidence that they will be served with care, clarity, and professionalism.

Our approach includes:

  • Pastoral and ministry-minded guidance
  • Two full time consultants on each search
  • No ‘side-hustle’ staff
  • Each consultant has at least 10 years of experience serving in the local church
  • A proven retained search process
  • Careful candidate vetting and fit evaluation
  • Support for search teams and church leaders
  • A commitment to integrity in every interaction

One Standard of Care for Every Church We Serve

At Shepherd Staff, we do not reserve our best service for larger churches. Every church we serve receives personal, intentional focus – regardless of size, visibility, or budget.

We do not need a separate team for large churches because our consultants serve full time and are extensively trained to understand a wide range of church contexts, leadership dynamics, and ministry challenges. That preparation allows us to shepherd churches wisely in a variety of situations with consistency, care, and professionalism.

In an industry increasingly crowded with newer or part-time search providers, this level of full-time training and broad church-search expertise is rare. For churches making one of their most important leadership decisions, that depth matters.

Offer applies to new retained search partnerships resulting from an SBCAL Associational Leader referral. Shepherd Staff reserves the right to determine qualification of referred opportunities.
